Sound Healing.

 <![CDATA[]]>

Sound healing is a therapeutic application of sound frequencies to the body/mind of a person with the intention of bringing them into a state of love, harmony, health and wellbeing.

Sound healing is one of the oldest forms of healing known to man. This very special healing technique can be done using the power of the voice which is called toning. Or though instruments that include gongs, crystal bowls, tuning forks, shamanic drums and tibetan bowls.

Sound healing offers us all the possibility of a drug free way of treating pain and illness as well as a way of tuning ourselves to our creator and the divine.

Each of our bodies has its own vibration rate. Infact every object in the universe has its own unique frequency. If you place a plant next to a speaker playing classical music the plant stays more healthy and blossoms.

The human body is made up 70% of water. Therefore this makes our bodies a very good conductor of sound.

Every cell, organ and bone has it’s own resonant frequency. Together they make up a composite frequency like the instruments of an orchestra. When one organ in the body is out of tune it will affect the whole body.

Some benefits reported though the years using sound healing are:

Improved joint function

cysts shrinking in size

improved sleeping pattern

pain relief

a better state of body and mind

deep relaxation

What to expect during a sound healing.

Depending on what instruments are accessible to me at the time I will start the healing off with some deep breathing followed by big sighs to release any unwanted stress and tension.

I will then ask you to lie on a healing table.

Under the table I will place a flower of life symbol to maximise the treatment.

Through the healing if guided I will use crystals which also increase the effects of healing.

I will then bring in universal energies, protection and say a universal prayer.

I will recite a mantra. If the recipient chooses to sing the mantra with me the benefits are doubled.

I use different instuments and tuning forks to heal different parts of the body, increase energy flow and bring peace and well being to the recipient.

The healing will end with the beautiful sounds of Shanti chimes and Tibetian bells.

Please see below different types of sound healing.

Toning

Scientic research shows that when we sing/chant we resonate every cell in our body.
Sound healing can be transmitted to people in a number of different ways.

Through using our own voice.

Through the recipendent using their own voice.

Through using our own voices with other voices.

Through using our own voice whist listerning to music.

Through listening to another persons voice or a number of voices.

Through listerning to an instrument or instruments.

Intention is a very important principle underlying how sound healing works. If we sing a pure sound to another person with a pure intention a healing will occur. Intention is not something that you do, but rather a force behind everything in the universe.

Therefore it is very import that the healer has a clear mind and sets a good intention for the recipient and themselves before every healing.

Tuning forks

Resonance is readily demonstrated when one C tuning fork is stuck. If you place another C tuning fork, the second tuning fork will vibrate and resonate together with the first tuning fork. The sound wave from the first tuning fork has imparted some of its energy to the second one.

When you hold the stem of a tuning fork and hit on your leg, a table or activator it will start to vibrate. If you strike a tuning fork then place it on a bone for example on the bottom of the spine. The vibration will then carry it’s energy to all of your body.

Different tuning forks are used to heal different parts of the body.

Musical instruments

Shamanic Drumming

Shamanic drumming uses a repetitive rhythm that begins slowly and gradually builds up intensity. This tempo will induce light and healing to deep trance states. It facilities the shamanic techniques of divination, journeying and shapeshifting. Some practitioners may drum though a different series of trance states until they reach the level that is necessary for healing to occur. When the healing comes to an end the practitioner simply slows the tempo of drumming which draws consciousness back to normal. Shamanic drumming has been used for thousands of years and will carry on for thousands of years to come.

Shamanic Rattle

The Shaman’s rattle is used to invoke the assistance of power animals and spirits. It is also possible to direct energy with rattles, much like a magic wand. Healing energy can be mentally transmitted through the rattle and out into the environment or onto a patient’s body. Prayer and intention can be connected to the spirit world. You can clear a space or person’s body of negative energy.

The Shamanic drum and rattle work very well together creating low and high pitched frequencies thereby boosting a total sonic effect.

Gong

Gong bath therapy has been used longer then any other instrument for Sound healing. This method is used very successfully all over the world. Gong Baths have a astounding and amazing effect on a range of health problems.

The gong helps to solve physical, mental and spiritual problems by bringing transition of cellular relignment through sound. These beautiful penetrating sound waves, enable you to break free of old and negative patterns and helps to balance and regenerate your body. The gong works within all areas of the body and goes straight to the root of the problem.

It is said by the ancients that if you were gonged for ten days you can be cured of anything.

Tibetean chimes/Tingsha’s

Are used for rituals and prayers by Tibetan Buddhists and practitioners. They are played by striking them together

to produce a clear beautiful high pitched sound.

Tibetan chimes are used with singing bowls during meditation, music and sound healing.

Singing/Tibetan bowls

Singing bowls are used worldwide for meditation, music, clearing and well being. They are historically made thoughout Asia, especially Nepal, China and Japan.

In some Buddhist practices, singing bowls are used to signal the beginning and end periods of silent meditation. Practioners use singing bowls during chanting and strike it when a particular phrase is chanted.

They can be used for clearing objects and crystals. After you have cleared a space with light or sound the bowls can be used to bring in new energy to the room.

Crystal bowls

These beautiful bowls emit a expansive sound that heals the body’s deeper tissues. They bring in grounding and help to promote a stable and peaceful energy. They are also used for meditation and indoor or outdoor healing spaces.

Frosted Bowls

Crystal frosted bowls carry earth energy. Their white energy colour is for purity and new beginings. Natural light enhances the bowls energies and Feng Shui appeal. Classic frosted bowls ring with fuller, smoother tones to combine the sweetest universal harmonies.

Clear crystal Bowls.

Practitioners choose clear quartz bowls for transmuting energies. Smooth energies flow from these bowls and are used for releasing and clearing work which are helpful in creating harmonious energies in the home.

Coloured crystal bowls

Work on the same as the above, however use colour energy to bring in the energies as well.

Shanti Chimes

Shanti Chimes come in several tunings each with its specific magic timbre. Each cord is welded with silver into the metal plate at the base of the resonance tube. Precise tuning creates a play of clear tones that is rich in overtones. The shorter cords gradually dominate and become fundamentals, thus forming a circular tone range.

Shanti chimes are played by moving the chime by its cord.

When a sound session starts to finish, Shanti Chimes are played so the recipient is showered in bliss and harmony.

Rain Makers/Rain Sticks

Rain makers have become a very popular musical instrument in the last 30 years. Some say they were invented by the Aztecs and then later spread throughout Central and South America. Other claims for the origin of the rain stick say that the Diaguita Indians of Chili used the instrument to bring rain, since their farming area is some of the driest in the world. Many of the Rain sticks today are made by the Diaguita who use dead stalks of a cactus to make the instruments. Thorns from the plant are pressed into the dead wood. It is the pebbles hitting against the thorns as they fall down the tube that create the rain like sound.

Solfreggio Chime Pipes

Solfreggio chime pipes are made from high quality, heat treated aluminium which produce a beautiful and long lasting sound. These special pipes are tuned to solfeggio frequencies. These sacred pipes come in 9 different sounds. Please see below for some examples.

396 Hz is used for liberating guilt and fear, 417 hz for facilitating change and support, 639 hz for connecting & relationships and 528 hz for transformation, Miracles and DNA repair.

Native American Navajo Flutes

Native American Navajo Flutes are made by the Navajo craftsman Jonah Thompson. However these flutes actually date back to prehistoric times in cultures all around the world.

These ancient people used the flute for ceremonies, for healing and undobtebly for love and surely just for pleasure.

Native flutes are perfect for meditation and dance. These finely crafted flutes have been carved fetish wind blocks and with beads and feathers.

It is easy to imagine these ancient people making music as you hear the sounds of a well made wooden flute today. Today we can also touch the ancient and share the magic the flute creates.

Chants/mantra’s

Most people have heard someone on tv chanting a Om.

When a person chants a mantra for a period of time the singer becomes more relaxed, clearer and calmer. This type of healing is used in most spiritual traditions. In India this practice is called kirtan. Mantra’s are the most beneficial when we chant or even listen to the same mantra over and over again. Our bodies are then filled with joy and inner peace.
